Dogs are allowed on the sandy gravel bar at the bottom of Bridge Street that many people take to Bar Island. It appears at low tide. You can walk your pup on the island trail through forests for gorgeous views of Bar Harbor and Frenchman Bay.

Hadley Point Beach about 10 miles north of Bar Harbor is another great place to walk your dog or take them for a swim. This is a beautiful spot to make a campfire and enjoy the gorgeous views and sunsets. Dogs can be on the beach at any time, with a leash.

In Acadia, dogs are allowed on Sand Beach September 9 thru June 14, during the “non-swimming” season. As well as on the freshwater beach at Echo Lake, just north of Southwest Harbor. But only in the cooler season from September 16 to May 14. It’s also one of the only lakes you can swim in Acadia.
